You are not what you think you are. But what you think, you are.
A friend and mentor - Todd McAllister - once told me that soon after coming to Guyana, South America. The first time he told me that, he was joking. The second time, he was teaching me a lesson. It took me a while to get it, but you truly are not the person that you think that you are inside. Instead, the thoughts that you think on a daily basis and the actions that you exemplify truly represent who you are. Interesting thought isn't it???
Well, in case you have not figured out yet, my name is Ben Adams. I am
a Haitian-American living in Athens, GA. I love computers, caves, and
music. What do I mean? Well, I work in IT designing websites, and doing
system administrator type work. I enjoy music and play guitar, piano, organ,
bass guitar, a little bit of trumpet and harmonica, a little bit of electric
guitar, bongos/congas, and drums. I have been playing music since 8 years
old. I would love to learn to play saxophone!! That is still my dream
instrument. How many of you can say you play accordion though? THAT is an
instrument you don't see every day!
If you learn nothing else about me, learn that music is VERY important to
me!! LOL I would love to form a band that would represent the dream of
myself and so many others from Jamaica, Haiti, Guyana, the Caribbean, and
those around the world. I love the sounds of Reggae, Kompa, and acoustic
blend. My goal is to share my passion for music, and share a little bit of
my culture with those around me. While doing this, I want to impart and
teach about life, truth, and the pursuit thereof. Will you join me? In the
past, I have previously been a part of Moe Better Blues, several church
worship teams, Guyana Crusade Team, and Jubilee Fellowship Praise Band. I
have not quit my day-job yet, but I want to be involved in music as a career
one day along with whatever IT related career I choose.
I also love spelunking. I love cave exploring in caves that are not guided
tours. What else.....I have learned to like dogs since I can't have a pet
monkey here in the US. I want a marmoset again though if I could have my
choice. I had a pet one before. They make AWESOME pets, and are not near as
bad as people say!!
I also enjoy riding motorcycle. I got my first motorcycle when I was 10
years old. It was a XR100. Since then, I have had several bikes
with the last being a KLR650.
I am sure that there are plenty of other interesting facts about me, that
I did not mention, but these are the main ones. Want to know
anything else? Just ask!!
